About Me

I am a student at Clemson University studying Philosophy with an emphasis in Religious Studies, as well as a Bachelor of Fine Arts.

I would have never guessed that I would be a photographer. I followed my hobby of yearbook into college. I originally planned to do design and layout, but I helped out with covering some sporting events when we were in need of some extra photographers, and I was hooked.

Now, just a few years later, I am a freelance photographer working for the school yearbook, newspaper, (occationally) sports information services, and as a contract photographer for USPRESSWIRE. I have shot NCAA events, NFL, the 2009 Intercoligiate Horseshow National Championships, among many other things, and have shown and placed in several fine arts shows across the upstate of South Carolina.

School is time consuming and being a sports photographer usually takes up the time that I would be spending studying, so I try to keep up with everything, but sometimes I just simply don't have the time. But, when I can I keep up a blog, and I try to put everything up on my flickr and/or MobileMe Gallery. But if those are silent, and you want to check to see if I am still alive, I do have a twitter and facebook ;)

Current Exhibits

I have two photos that are going to be on exhibit in the World of Energy show, but mainly now I shoot for USPresswire.

If you want to see some of the things that I have shot you can see them here.

My Philosophy

A photograph can do two things; capture a moment in time, and tell a story.

By the very nature of what it is, all photographs capture a moment in time. There is not really a way around that, and really that is what the whole goal of a photograph is, to capture a moment in time so that you can look at it for many days to come. But just capturing a moment in time is not what makes a photograph good; what makes a photograph a good photograph is when it tells a story. Now of course not every photograph tells a story. And every photo that does doesn't tell a good one or a complete one. But, the goal, especially in sports photography, is to tell a story with your pictures, to let the world see what the photographer sees through his lens. And that is what I try to do whether it is a simple photo of a group of friends or the game changing play at the national championships.
