About Us
Dennis Rooney began his photography business in 1971 photographing four soccer teams and working from a home-based studio in Livermore, Califonia. Since that first shooting Rooney's has steadily grown and now photographs well over 150,000 people a year in all facets of portrait photography. The company spent the first few years concentrating on perfecting every aspect of the youth sports photography business and became the recognized leader in that field in the 70's.
As Rooney's became more succesfull, the demand for fast turn-around and high quality film processing could not be met by our outside labs. In 1976 a retail camera store and a custom processing and printing lab were purchased, allowing Rooney's the desired in-house control over all aspects of their photography business. With this added control the company expanded their services to include school, senior and dance photography. Using innovative ideas and techniques, Rooney's quickly became the creative leader in each of these fields.
Further complimenting the photography business a custom framing studio was acquired in 1983. And in 1986, a graphic printing business was added to handle the ever increasing printing needs. In 1989 Rooney's made the biggest decision of it's entire history. An 11,000 square foot building was purchased. The interior of the building was designed to meet our specifications so that we could house all of our production department under one roof, in what now is a photographic showcase facility.
This type of growth has taken Rooney's from that "one-man-studio-in-the-home" business to a company that provides a wide range of quality services to customers throughout much of northern California.
Although the actual count is unknown, it is certain that there are well over "One Million Memories" captured by Rooney's.
